| A
good squad of footballers made the trip to San Remo on Sunday
21 March 2004 to play in the annual Central Coast tournament.
Unfortunately the boys failed to retain the trophy, which
they won last year. In their first game they lost by 2 goals
to Young Irelands. In their second game they drew 1-5 to 1-5
with Penrith Gaels. Despite not registering a win on the day
hopes are high for the season ahead.
The squad on the day was as follows:
Andrew Latten (Sligo), Anthony Foy (Offally), Brendan Murphy
(Cork), Brendan McNamara (Clare)' Brendan O'Neill (Kerry),
Brian Bermingham (Clare), Conor Bourke (Limerick), Dan McMullen
(Galway), Darren Hallinan (Sligo), Dave O'Hara (Sligo),
Declan Sweeney (Leitrim), Derek Scullane (Clare), Frank
Hegarty (Cork), Gary Hurney (Waterford), Ger Mulhall (Laois),
Ger Nugent (Roscommon), Gerry Lavelle (Louth), James O'Neill
(Kerry), Joe O'Neill (Armagh), Joey Drumgoole (Louth), John
Phelan (Waterford), John Barry (Limerick), Mike Hughes (Mayo),
Mike Hurley (Galway), Nicholas Fitzgerald (Limerick), Owen
Kelly (Meath), Padraig Cooney (Cork), Paul Farrell (Leitrim),
Paul Maher (Waterford), Phelim Og Gildernew (Tyrone), Richie
Doran (Leitrim), Ronan Wogan (Meath), Stephen Quigley (Meath),
Tadgh Kelly (Clare), Tom Breen (Wexford), Tom Fehin (Cork)
and Tony Power (Waterford).
However,
Cusacks footballers made amends the following Sunday (28
March) by winning the Summer Comp at Wentworth Park with
a scintillating performance against Clan na Gael. Captained
by Gary Hurney from Waterford they were far better than
Clan on the day and ran out winners by 2-8 to 0-9.
