Cusack's
Hurlers Recapture League Title
Proving
that success breeds success and fresh from their Central
Coast victory, Michael Cusacks hurling team continued on
their winning way at Auburn on Sunday 26 May when they captured
their third NSW League title. Having won their previous
League titles in 1993 and 1999 they earned their third title
in a highly entertaining game against a gallant Sydney Shamrocks
side. Shamrocks got off to a great start but good scores
from Captain Donal Mulcahy and forward Brendan Coleman keep
Cusacks in touch. Despite losing Donal Mulcahy through injury
early in the game Cusacks edged out in front with 10 minutes
to go and ran on winners in the end by 1-17 to 0-11. Outstanding
play by wingback Cathal Walsh, excellent frees by mid-fielder,
Jason Barrett and a fine display by Conor Burke at full
back ensured that Cusacks were triumphant on the day claiming
the hurling league title back from Shamrocks
