MENS FOOTBALL CENTRAL COAST FINAL REPORT
The
Michael Cusacks Mens football team went up to Gosford with
great expectations after training well in the lead up to
the tournament with Kevin Dohan and Maxi at the helm. The
draw made things difficult for them as they lined out against
hot favourites McAnnalans first off followed by a clash
with Clan na Gael. Their opening game against McAnnalans
was the game of the tournament. It went right down to the
last kick, which was an equalising point by McAnnalans and
ended the game at seven points each, which was a fair result.
In
their second game against Clan, once again the Cusack lads
played great football and had a deserved win by 0-13 to
1-7. Unfortunately the late goal by Clan proved significant,
as a bigger winning margin for Cusacks would have allowed
them to progress to the final. Unfortunately one draw and
a three-point win was not enough and a disappointed Cusacks
squad lost out on a final spot on goal difference. Though
disappointed on the day the squad are confident that they
will bounce back for the upcoming league and championship
campaigns.
Dave
Farley ably led the team and he received great assistance
from his fellow Dubliner Darren McGee. The full squad of
players who made the trip to Gosford is as follows: Aidan
Hartnet, Anthony Ryan, Barry Dublin, Brian Rice, Carl Kiernan,
Colm Quinn, Conor Bourke, Conor Dolan, Darren McGee, David
Clifford, David Farley, Donal Foley, Eamon Dolan, Frank
Hegerty, Gavin Ward, Ian Wogan, Jerry Nugent, Justin Mohan,
Mick Cunningham, Paudie Cooney, Paudie O'Reilly, Paul Meagher,
Paul O Donoghue, Steven Dohan, Trevor Dowd and Willie McDermot
