The
Gaelic Club in Surry Hills was once again the venue
for the 2002 Michael Cusacks GAA Club Presentation
Night. After another thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding
year for the club, it was time to sit back, relax,
kick the shoes off and reminisce on the year that
was.
After
the meeting and greeting formalities were completed
club members helped themselves to the buffet selection
on offer, whilst also taking the opportunity to
imbibe some liquid refreshment throughout the evening.
Then it was onto the serious business of presenting
awards, resultant (sometimes) reluctant speeches
from (sometimes) embarrassed winners
and the ensuing piss taking for the remainder of
the night.
There
was generous words of thanks for those members who
had given that extra ounce throughout the year to
ensure the club was run successfully. Dee Stephenson
was thanked for her stalwart service as secretary
for the previous 5 years after announcing that she
would be relinquishing the position at the forthcoming
AGM.
Brendan Coleman was also mentioned for praise after
his commitment to training the footballers whilst
also playing both codes every Sunday. Daveena Doyle
was rewarded for joining the Centurion club along
with Betty Servis, Dee Stephenson, Therese McHugh
and Bernie O' Donnell who have all completed over
100 games each for the Cusack's Ladies Football
Team. As with every amateur club Cusacks rely heavily
on sponsors and the club thanked their generous
sponsors, Zell of Durty Nelly's, and Ned from the
Illinois who were present on the night.
